Hemming's way

The Lib Dem MP John Hemming seems to be waging war against social workers and government adoption policy. Is his campaign misleading?

Editor's note: We have now been informed by Ms Penny Mellor that she did not, in 2005, take up the position of family advocacy co-ordinator for the organisation Justice For Families set up by John Hemming MP. We are happy to clarify this point.

Spare a thought for Christine Hemming, wife of the Birmingham MP John Hemming and mother to four of his five children. Last Thursday, as Hemming continued his extraordinary one-man crusade against the nation's social workers (or, as he prefers to call them, "baby stealers"), she felt obliged to post a qualifying online footnote to a series of articles and comments provoked by her husband in Community Care.

Hemming, she noted, had said that he had "experienced 'lies from social workers in his private life'. I would like to make it clear," she said, "that this was in relation to child protection action relating to a local councillor and her child and not in any way to our family."

In an article published last month in the Mail on Sunday, Hemming had claimed that social workers were "literally snatching newborn babies and children from good, stable, loving homes" for no better reason than to rake in millions of pounds of money offered as an incentive for hitting government adoption targets.

Give us back our children

Desperate motherSix weeks ago, the Mail told how social workers tore a baby from her loving family to put her up for adoption. Since then, scores of parents have contacted us with horrifying stories of children stolen by the state. How dare the courts continue to gag them?

The harrowing film of a young mother with an IQ of 63 cuddling her much-loved toddler daughter for the last time before handing her over for adoption was always going to be controversial.

As the cameras roll, the 18-year-old mother cries pitifully.

Her bewildered child reaches out to hug her when the moment comes to say goodbye for ever.

This raw, emotional footage was to be the centrepiece of a new BBC series called Family Wanted, spearheading a national campaign to increase the numbers of children adopted in this country.

In a bid to find them new homes, children removed from their real parents have been paraded publicly during the TV series. It is, say critics, akin to a human auction.

Over 1,200 Minnesota parents are suing to shut down Child Protective Services

(CW) — A group of parents in Minnesota called Stop CPS From Legally Kidnapping Children has filed a request in federal court to “shut down the state’s child protection services, stop serial abuse of families and overturn the unconstitutional laws by which the agency operates,” according to a press release published Tuesday.

The group, led by Dwight Mitchell, a father who says his son was illegally taken from him for 22 months, first filed a civil rights complaint in April, and this week they vocally publicized their call to shut down the child services agency, which they claim engages in systemic lying, withholding information, and fabricating evidence. They are asking the federal court to suspend the state’s agency from enforcing child protection laws, and according to a petition signed by almost 5,000 people, are also demanding changes to the laws themselves.

A fed-up judge and a new chief: Is this what it takes to get Texas to protect kids?

It’s time for Texas to ditch the politics of winning and put these kids first.

Sometimes a situation is so mired in dysfunction that it can benefit both from a fresh perspective and a jump-start on moving forward.

We see those points materializing in two recent developments involving a state agency that has struggled for years to do what its name says it must do — protect children.

Foster carers face abuse trial

A family accused of abusing foster children in their care by using a wire brush to scrub their bodies will go on trial later this year.

Andrew John Hemara, 53, and Jenny-Lee Hemara, 49 appeared at the Auckland District Court today where they were remanded on bail until their trial in August.

Judge announces adoption in UK of child born to Italian woman who was forced to undergo a C-section in 2012

The daughter of an Italian woman who had a forced caesarean section while in the UK has been adopted by "good and loving people", the country's top family judge has announced.

The case, which first unfolded in secrecy, was later reported and commented on around the world and led to Sir James Munby, president of the family division of the high court, calling for "radical changes" and greater transparency in the family courts.

Find Jonah Reif - Judicial corruption at it’s best!

Jonah Rief toke a pic of his mum Tammy Rief. Please like and share our Find Jonah Rief page in hopes someone may have seen him. We are still trying to figure out how they got away with making Tammy Rief have to fight for custody of her son from a man who was nothing at all to Jonah Rief - then handed Jonah Rief into the hands of child traffickers. That's who the man was lying about -  being Jonah’s fathfat when he wasn't anything at all to Jonah Rief.  The judges, legal officials, noone would listen to Tammy. They kept making her fight for custody of her son Jonah Rief and she should never even had to do this !!

But ending up having to do all that, share custody with a man who was nothing at all to her son, not even a boyfriend to Jonah’s Mother!!!  Tammy had enough of waiting on the legal system to help her and her son Jonah Rief, so she decided to do what any loving parent would do, she grabbed her son and ran with him , she was forced into doing something she should never have had to even think about must less do it!!! Then they throw her in jail in NC for doing what the law and judges were supposed to do! Protect the innocent!

Hundreds more children 'farmed out' to care homes miles from where they live despite pledge to cut number‘.

These children are being targeted and preyed upon by paedophiles and criminals who know they are vulnerable,’ says Labour MP Ann Coffee.

Hundreds more children have been ”farmed out” to residential homes many miles from where they were brought up despite promises to cut the number of out-of-borough placements.

The number of children who were sent to residential homes far away from their home town in England rose by 64 per cent between 2012 and 2017, Labour MP Ann Coffey has revealed.

There has also been a surge in the number of sent-away children going missing from their care homes, with the number of incidents more than doubling – from 4,380 in 2015 to 9,190 in 2017.

Cost to county of lying social workers: $10.6 million

The total cost to Orange County of a case in which a jury found that two social workers lied to take away a woman’s daughters is $10.6 million, according to a new audit.

The U.S. Supreme Court last year declined to hear the county’s challenge to a 2007 jury award of $4.9 million to the Seal Beach woman, Deanna Fogarty-Hardwick. With interest on that amount plus her attorney fees, the total payout by the county was $9.6 million. In addition, the county incurred another $1 million of its own legal costs in the case.

A mother is threatened with imprisonment for talking to her MP

John Hemming MP is campaigning for greater transparency in our family protection system.

The high-handed power of social workers and the courts, working in tandem, threatens even the privileges of Parliament, writes Christopher Booker.

Last week a heavily pregnant woman, whose name is known to millions but whom I am forbidden by law to identify, was summoned to the High Court at very short notice to show why she should not be imprisoned. The charges against her, brought by a local authority I cannot name, were that she might or might not have been in breach of a court order restraining her freedom to speak about a matter which, again, I am prohibited from identifying.

CPS got called on me by the hospital my son was hospiliazed in.

Let's see if I can make this short ... CPS got called on me by the hospital my son was hospiliazed in. They said im medically neglecting my son, im not feeding him ??? that he's failure to thrive and he's in danger because all of this is considered child abuse. First of all, he's now at 3%, he's gaining weight, he's AHEAD of his milestone (no signs of mental abuse or physical abuse) they did a whole investigation ... we are now facing the courts. They want me to drug test every day until my marijuana levels go down (even tho in California WEED IS LEGAL... guess they don't care) even the workers at the drug testing think it's bullshit I'm coming EVERY FUCKING DAY TO TEST. They say my levels are going up and down which is bullshit. They're accusing me of smoking when I'm not. They know I have a medical card yet want to ignore my medical needs. I say the report and there's a lot of false information. We don't have proof.. which is the worst part. Hospital claims my son had a POSSIBLE.... keyword POSSIBLE soy and milk allergy...hence why I never went back to them and found a new doctor.... they still called child services on me. ?? Im fucking pissed... im not enjoying my baby at all cause I'm just stressed out... I'm suppose to be enjoying my family but feels like I'm walking on egg shells... i don't want to fuck up so they don't take my son away from me. I'm depressed but can't tell them that other wise they'll use it agasint me. I'm stressed out. I'm at my breaking point. They're fucking with me...i don't even know if it's legal to sue them and the hospital for distress and false accusations without proof... the only proof we have our My word and my bfs but since we smoke pot we are looked as drug addicts ??

Manmeet Bhullar 7fb80Manmeet Bhullar says no enquiry is needed. Manmeet Bhullar, who will take over the portfolio when the newly shuffled cabinet is sworn in next week, said Wednesday December 18 2013 he doesn't see the need to hold an independent public inquiry into the matter, as demanded by all three opposition parties. Great concerns the 33-year-old Bhullar, who is moving from the Service Alberta portfolio, lacks the experience to shepherd Human Services, which handles child and youth issues, social programs and homelessness.

No inquiry means we do not think these children's lives matter, so much so that we can not even be bothered to look into their deaths. There are no words to describe how disgusted I am.

Whatever it takes to keep this out of the public's view. This government's actions speak far louder than their words will ever speak. People with nothing to hide DO NOT act the way these people do. They've been everything but forthcoming with information and openness.

Currently, Child Protective Services violates more civil rights on a daily basis then all other agencies combined, including the NSA / CIA wiretapping program.... CPS does not protect children ...

It is sickening how many children are subject to abuse, neglect and even killed at the hands of Child Protective Services. every parent should read this pdf from Connecticut DCF Watch : http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com/8x11.pdf http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com

Number of Cases per 100,000 children in the US

(These numbers come from The National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect in Washington (NCCAN).

Recent numbers have increased significantly for CPS

    *Perpetrators of Maltreatment*

Physical Abuse CPS 160, Parents 59

Sexual Abuse CPS 112, Parents 13

    Neglect CPS 410, Parents 241

Medical Neglect CPS 14 Parents 12

    Fatalities CPS 6.4, Parents 1.5

Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per 100,000 children.

CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect and sexual abuse, and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold parents too.

No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and death than any human being combined.

CPS nationwide is guilty of more human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a bunch of social workers.
