"Lack of Legal Aid policy, and low ethics allows lawyers to abuse former clients"

yourdutyThere seems to be some extremely clear loopholes in legal aid guidelines and policy, which is making it easy for lawyers to harass their former clients who were not happy with their service and consequently sacked them.

Currently, a lawyer or solicitor can prevent those entitled to legal aid from obtaining legal aid with another firm if the client is unhappy with the service being provided. What makes this even more interesting is that Legal Aid just dont care.  All the lawyer has to do is refuse to transfer the funding to another solicitor and the client is either stuck with a solicitor who they are not happy with, or they must go through the whole process of applying for legal aid funding again, for exactly the same matter they have already been approved by.

So why is it that the rich are allowed to punish the poor, for no reason other than they want to?  And why does the legislation and our basic rights allow us to have the legal representation of our choice, but our own government does not allow us this right?

It is clear that policy needs to be changed, and that solicitors who seek to punish people who do not prefer their services be either fined or reprimanded in order to remind them of their own legal and moral obligations ... such a simple solution for what seems to be an extremely difficult and unnecessary hassle for those already having to seek the services of the legal profession on a shoestring budget.
